Wisconsin Farm Technology Days Inc. Chairman John Shutske has announced that Jefferson County will host the 2019 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days. The show will be held in July on a yet-to-be-selected host farm.
Jefferson County is a strong and diversified agricultural county that is ideally located, from a show standpoint, in the rolling farmland of south-central Wisconsin. With over $1.8 billion in economic activity and nearly 8,000 jobs created by agriculture, Jefferson County is well-positioned to host one of the largest outdoor farm shows in the nation.
SHOW HOST: Jefferson County last hosted Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in 1984.
Laverne Georgson, Extension agriculture agent in Jefferson County, spearheaded the bid to host the show, which was last held in Jefferson County in 1984 at the Bernard and Beverly Walter farm near Watertown. Georgson reports a great deal of enthusiasm in the county for hosting the show, which is expected to feature forage production and dairying. Plans are underway to organize an executive committee and select a host farm.
The 2017 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days will be held in Kewuanee County July 11-13. The 2018 event is set for Wood County July 10-12.
