The Mississippi Soybean Promotion Board (MSPB) and Mississippi soybean checkoff have launched a new soybean production resource for the state’s soybean farmers at www.mssoy.org. The new Web site compiles and centralizes soybean research, reports and resources valuable to Mississippi soybean farmers.

“If a soybean farmer is looking for specific information about growing and managing soybeans in Mississippi, they can now visit www.mssoy.org,” says Keith Morton, MSPB Chairman and a soybean farmer from Falkner, Miss. “We’ve gathered soybean information from Mississippi State University and Extension, along with other relevant information, and have organized it all in one easy-to-use Web site.”

According to Morton, the new Web site will help ensure that the research and information resulting from checkoff-funded projects gets into the hands of farmers and continues to provide them with opportunities for profit.

“We invest in production research with the goal to benefit Mississippi soybean farmers, and our new site provides a way to communicate our research results,” says Morton. “One reason farmers should visit the site is to check out the new tool that shows and customizes the results of MSU’s variety trials, which the soybean checkoff helps to fund.”

MSPB worked with Trey Koger, Mississippi State University Soybean Specialist, to develop the new site. Koger provided input on what valuable resources and information needed to be shared with Mississippi farmers.

Top five reasons to visit www.mssoy.org:

1. Custom results of Mississippi soybean variety trials. To help with your seed selection decisions, you can review and compare varieties and their yield based on year, location, soil type, irrigation, maturity group and more.

2. Have a weed, insect or disease problem? Check out the identification and management guides.

3. MSU researcher updates from the field. Extension and Research Professors Tom Allen, Jr., Ph.D., Tom Eubank, Ph.D., and others will provide real-time updates through Twitter about what’s happening in soybeans.

4. Irrigation central. Learn more about irrigation systems, water quality guidelines, and soybean yield benefits from irrigation.

5. Take a closer look at your checkoff investments. While MSPB invests primarily in soybean production research, at the national level your checkoff supports research as well as domestic and international marketing efforts designed to build demand for soybeans and boost your bottom-line.

Farmers looking for Internet-based information on-the-go can access a mobile-friendly version of www.mssoy.org on their cell phones.
