$7,700 buys farmland close to Sioux Falls
About 143 acres in Minnehaha County, S.D., sold for $7,700 per acre. “This farm has a relatively high percentage tillable and appears to have been maintained in an excellent state of production, evidenced by the extraordinary 2016 crop,” the sale bill said. The property was terraced and had other conservation practices in place. The soil rating was 76.8, and there were three remaining housing eligibilities on the property. Deuel County, SD, farm brings $3,700/a
A 338-acre farm in Deuel County, S.D., sold for $3,700 per acre at an auction in September. The farm had a productivity index of 70.8 and 308 tillable acres, good eye appeal and laid level with a very gentle slope, according to the sale bill. “The farm is located in a strong farming and agricultural community and presently is all in soybeans with an excellent crop. Moody County, SD, land sells for $5,400/a
About 230 acres in Moody County, S.D. sold for $5,400 per acre at an auction in September. This farm features a mix of productive cropland and hayland-pasture and has a mature tree grove and a dugout — “with some areas that could provide some hunting opportunities for deer and other wildlife,” the sale bill said. The farm consists of 161.24 acres of cropland. Portions of the grassland have been utilized as a combination of hayland and late-season pasture. The land has an overall soil rating of 0.790. Top-notch flat land in eastern SD
A 204-acre farm consisting mostly of “top-notch flat to gently rolling tillable ag land in Minnehaha County, S.D.,” according to the sale bill, sold for $5,750 per acre at an auction in September. About 20 acres of the land on either side of Split Rock Creek, which runs through the farm, was in the Conservation Reserve Program through September 2018.
