North Carolina soybean growers elect leaders for 2012
• Directors on the state soybean board are responsible for overseeing the soybean checkoff-funded research, marketing and communications work of the association, as well as conducting advocacy work on behalf of the state’s soybean industry.

The North Carolina Soybean Producers Association elected five new members to serve a three-year term on its board of directors at its 45th annual meeting in Durham, N.C.
Six members were elected to serve a second term on the board of directors.
Directors on the state soybean board are responsible for overseeing the soybean checkoff-funded research, marketing and communications work of the association, as well as conducting advocacy work on behalf of the state’s soybean industry.
Newly elected board members are: Wesley Johnson of Dobson N.C., representing Surry County, plus 24 western North Carolina counties; Michael McPherson of Mebane, N.C., representing Alamance, Caswell, Durham, Forsyth, Granville, Guilford, Orange, Person, Rockingham, and Stokes; Ryan Cahoon of Fairfield, N.C., representing Bertie, Chowan, Dare, Tyrrell, and Washington; Randy Edwards of Wendell, N.C., representing Johnston County and Sherill Jernigan of Godwin N.C., representing Cumberland and Harnett counties.
The following directors have been elected to serve a second term: Jeff Tyson of Nashville, N.C., representing Edgecombe, Halifax, and Nash; David Heath of Dover, N.C., representing Carteret, Craven, Jones, Onslow, and Pamlico; Phillip McLain of Statesville, N.C., representing Alexander, Catawba, Cleveland, Davie, Davidson, Iredell, Lincoln, Randolph, and Rowan; Henry Walker of Mocksville, N.C., representing Alexander, Catawba, Cleveland, Davie, Davidson, Iredell, Lincoln, Randolph, and Rowan; Travis Starnes of Monroe, N.C., representing Gaston, Mecklenburg, and Union and Lon Beasley of Magnolia, N.C., representing Duplin County.
North Carolina soybean producers elected the following officers for 2011: President — Jimmy Thomas of Timberlake, N.C.; Vice-President — Bernard Lennon of Evergreen, N.C.; Secretary — Jeff Peed of Aurora, N.C. and Treasurer — Bobby Joe Fisher of Rocky Mount, N.C.
