The University of Missouri’s Fisher Delta Research Center will host its 56th annual field day starting at the Center’s Rone Hall near Portageville, Mo., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31.
The event, titled “The Future of Delta Agriculture,” is free and open to the public. The field tours, which run from 9 a.m. to noon, will include presentations by eight University of Missouri and USDA Agricultural Research Service scientists. Lunch will be served at noon.
Among those will be a presentation by Dr. Kevin Bradley, Extension weed scientist with the University of Missouri, titled “The situation with off-target movement of dicamba: Where do we go from here?”
Other presentations will include:
Soybean Tour
Variety development and germplasm enhancement updates for soybeans, Pengyin Chen.
Cotton Tour
Soil measurements and site-specific cotton management, Ken Sudduth, USDA-ARS.
Cotton rooting depth and irrigation management, Matthew Rhine.
Evaluating potassium fertility on cotton, Gene Stevens.
Yield monitoring and site-specific cotton management, Earl Vories, USDA-ARS
Rice Tour
New rice weed control products deliver a new mode of action and a new site of action, Jim Heiser.
Evaluating the different methods of winter rice straw management, David Dunn.

Take Exit 32 for Portageville
• Turn left, heading east on Hwy. 162
• Drive east for 4 miles
• Turn right on Hwy. TT
• Drive south for 2 miles
• Lee Farm entrance will be on your left
Directions — from South I-55:
• Take Exit 27 for Wardell
• Turn left, proceed on overpass
• Turn right and head north on outer road
• Continue north for 3 miles
• Turn right on Hwy. T
• Continue east for 4.6 miles to Lee Farm
