‘Pre-Webinar’ to feature discussion on government programs

The Webinar organizers are adding a pre-session that will feature a question and answer discussion of the new USDA farm programs. The discussion will be led by Tony Franco, chief of the Farm Programs Division, and Anita Wilson, state agricultural program specialist with the Farm Service Agency.

If you were planning to participate in the University of Arkansas’ “2015-16 U.S. and Global Rice Outlook with the USDA’s Nathan Childs” Webinar tomorrow, you may want to log in or dial in a few minutes early.

The Webinar organizers are adding a pre-session that will feature a question and answer discussion of the new USDA farm programs. The discussion will be led by Tony Franco, chief of the Farm Programs Division, and Anita Wilson, state agricultural program specialist with the Farm Service Agency.

The pre-session will be held from 1:15 p.m. to 1:28 p.m. today (Friday, May 22). At the conclusion of the Q&A, Dr. Nathan Childs, agricultural economist with USDA’s Economic Research Service and a veteran observer of the rice markets, will begin his presentation on the 2015-16 U.S. and Global Rice Outlook.

Topics for the pre-session by Franco and Ms. Wilson will include:

  • Acreage reporting requirements.

  • Actions required for crops that are prevented planted and failed acres.

  • 2014 farm bill update with attendee questions related to farm program provisions.
