Space is filling up quickly for the 2015 American Pistachio Industry conference, which will be held Feb. 16-18 in San Diego.

APG officials expect an action-packed event for this, the eighth annual APG conference. More than 800 people were in attendance at last year’s convention and officials expect a similar turnout this year.

Titled “Power Up, Connect, Recharge,” the conference takes place at the Paradise Point San Diego Island Resort.

New for this year’s event is a website dedicated solely to the conference. Visit http://www.apgpower.org/ for information on the conference and to register to attend. A block of rooms has been set aside at Paradise Point and that information is available at the website as well.

In addition to the website APG will have a mobile app that will be available later this year, Byrnes said.

This year’s event promises to please military enthusiasts with a dinner gala at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and an optional activity that includes a personal bus tour of San Diego military points of interest led by Lt. Cmdr. Ryan Metzler. The Monday morning bus tour includes photo stops and lunch.

Advanced sign-ups are required for the bus tour and space is limited.

The conference schedule includes the APG Golf Classic at Riverwalk Golf Club on Feb. 16. Contact the APG office at (559) 475-0435 for more information on the golf outing.

Events kick off Feb. 16 with a welcome reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Paradise Point Conference Center.

Meetings and break-out sessions will take place throughout the day on Feb. 17, to include state of the industry presentations. The day will be capped by the gala at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and an opportunity to view military equipment on display, according to Catherine Byrnes, member services and communications director for APG.

A half-day of events are slated for Feb. 18, which tentatively includes a water bond and new groundwater regulations panel discussion, and scheduled keynote speaker Ben Stein.

More than 50 booths will allow APG members and industry partners to make meaningful connections with current and future customers and allow growers to see the latest products and services to maximize their pistachio production.

Online registration is available for the conference.

For more information on the event contact the American Pistachio Growers at (559) 475-0435.
