California’s commercial citrus industry is on high alert for the Asian citrus psyllid insect and the primary disease vectored by the insect called citrus greening, also referred to as Huanglongbing disease. The psyllid and disease have caused extensive crop and financial losses in Florida, the nation’s top citrus-producer, and in major citrus-producing countries around the world.

In California, the second largest U.S. citrus producer, the psyllid has been found but not the disease. The same is the case for Arizona, the nation’s fourth largest producer.
