At the conclusion of the 94th Wisconsin FFA Convention, Mary Schrieber of East Troy FFA was elected to serve as the state FFA president for 2023-24.
Schrieber was the sentinel on the 2022-23 state officer team, representing Section 10. The 19-year-old graduated from East Troy High School in 2022 and will be a sophomore this fall at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, where she is double majoring in agricultural education and political science. Her parents are Adam and Therese Schrieber of East Troy.
The Wisconsin FFA Convention was held June 12-15 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. The theme of the convention was “Elevate.”
Schrieber says she was surprised to be selected state FFA president.
“My old officer team were such great people,” she says. “They are my family. I would not be here without them. Last year serving as a state FFA officer was the best experience of my life. I know this year as president, it will only get better. I’m very excited to serve Wisconsin FFA members for another year.”
Schrieber succeeds Casey Denk of Modovi FFA.
A new slate of FFA officers was elected from each of the state’s 10 sections:
Brooke Wittrock, sentinel. The 18-year-old is a member of the Bloomer FFA chapter from Section 1. She graduated from Bloomer High School and this fall will be a freshman at UW-River Falls, where she plans to major in ag education with a minor in ag engineering technology. She is the daughter of Edward and Jocelyn Wittrock.
Sophie Koehler vice president. The 19-year-old is a member of the Chippewa Falls FFA chapter from Section 2. She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School. This fall she will be a sophomore at UW-River Falls, where she is studying pre-veterinary medicine with a major in animal science. Her parents are Clifford and Jill Koehler.
Jescey Thompson, reporter. The 18-year-old is a member of the Galesville-Ettrick-Trempealeau FFA chapter from Section 3. He graduated from G-E-T High School in 2023 and plans to attend the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities to major in ag communications with minors in political science and Spanish studies. He is the son of Travis and Andrea Thompson.
Stevie Cobb, vice president. The 18-year-old is a member of the Black Hawk FFA chapter from Section 4. She graduated from Black Hawk High School in 2023 and plans to attend UW-Platteville, where she will major in psychology. Her parents are Jessica Cobb and the late Jeffrey Cobb.
Linsey Mueller, treasurer. The 17-year-old is a member of the Albany FFA chapter from Section 5. She is a 2023 graduate of Albany High School and plans to attend UW-Platteville to major in environmental engineering and Spanish. She is the daughter of Wayne and Bonnie Mueller.
Julia Lenz, vice president. The 18-year-old is a member of the Markesan FFA chapter from Section 6. She is a 2023 graduate of Markesan High School and plans to attend Concordia University, where she will major in elementary education. Her parents are Wade and Kelsey Lenz.
Elizabeth Reinart, vice president. The 18-year-old is a member of the Granton FFA chapter from Section 7. She is a 2023 graduate of Granton High School and plans to attend UW-River Falls this fall to pursue a degree in ag education. She is the daughter of Kelly and Rachel Reinart.
Amber Bunnell, vice president. The 19-year-old is a member of the Seymour FFA chapter from Section 8. She is a 2022 graduate of Seymour High School and is a sophomore at UW-River Falls, where she is majoring in ag education. She is the daughter of Brad and Brenda Bunnell.
Amy Jentges, secretary. The 19-year-old is a member of the Random Lake FFA chapter from Section 9. She is a 2022 graduate of Random Lake High School and a sophomore at UW-River Falls, where she is majoring in ag education. She is the daughter of Margaret Jentges.
Henry Koerner, parlimentarian. The 19-year-old is a member of the Big Foot FFA chapter from Section 10. He is a 2023 graduate of Big Foot High School, and plans to attend the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities to major in ag education. His parents are Tyson and Emma Koerner.
Each state officer will meet thousands of FFA members and will travel more than 10,000 miles during the next year. They will attend the National FFA Convention Nov. 1-4 in Indianapolis, and will meet leaders in government, education, business and agriculture.
Awards presented
More than 3,500 people attended the Wisconsin FFA Convention. During the event, a number of competitions were held. The Stars Over Wisconsin winners are:

Jacob Harbaugh, Clintonville FFA, Star in Agribusiness
Ethan Lulich, Mauston FFA, Star in Agricultural Placement
Henry Koerner, Big Foot FFA, Star in Agriscience
All four winners will represent Wisconsin at the National FFA Convention.

All speaking contest winners will compete at the National FFA Convention.

Big Foot FFA chapter won the Conduct of Chapter Meetings contest.
Mauston FFA chapter won the High School Quiz Bowl contest.
Marshall FFA chapter won the Middle School Quiz Bowl contest.
New London FFA chapter won the Agricultural Issues contest.
Weyauwega-Freemont FFA chapter earned the National Chapter Award.
Big Foot FFA chapter won the Food for America Award.
Slinger FFA chapter took first place in the Traditional Scrapbook contest.
New London FFA chapter took first place in the Digital Scrapbook contest.
The State FFA Degree is the highest degree the Wisconsin Association of FFA can bestow on its members. A total of 383 members from across the state received their State FFA Degree at this year’s convention.
