Max Armstrong looks at the Consumer Price Index, which is not growing as much as it was. Max shares insights from Stephen Weiler, Colorado State University, and Tessa Conroy, University of Wisconsin-Madison, who looked at the CPI for those in rural America. They note that 14% of the population lives outside of the cities, but that CPI doesn’t survey those areas and they say the difference could be masking an urban-rural inflation gap.
