While learning more about where your spuds come from, consumers can also qualify to win a year’s worth of groceries, as the Michigan Potato Industry Commission kicks off a new branding campaign.
To raise awareness of locally grown potatoes, and as a major part of a nearly $100,000 USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant, MPIC, in partnership with Spartan-Nash stores, has created 90 Michigan Potatoes branded orchard bins, which will be featured in produce sections all over the state.
The MPIC says the 90 branded orchard bins will easily and quickly direct consumers to Michigan grown potatoes.
In addition, 4.6 million branded Kwik Lok tags, which hold the bags tied, can be found on Michigan grown potato bags with a “Free Groceries for a Month” campaign to identify Michigan potatoes.
To learn more about the farm where the potatoes were grown, consumers can take the first three letters on the Kwik Lok tags and plug them into the MPIC website at mipotato.com/track-your-potatoes. While visiting the web site, consumers can also register to win the year’s worth of groceries.
