We anticipate the light brown apple moth (LBAM) quarantine in San Diego County will end May 13th. At that time, important changes will take place.

After the quarantine ends:

  • There will be no further LBAM restrictions on interstate (to other states) shipments of nursery stock or any other regulated commodity.

  • Canada and Mexico will require three additional years of crop land trapping to meet their import requirements.

  • Quarantine traps will no longer be required and will be removed unless you request and pay for continued servicing.

Pre-quarantine program available:

The purpose of a pre-quarantine program is to avoid possible shipment delays, if a quarantine occurs, by having the requirements (compliance agreement, visual inspection and trapping) already in place. Since we already have all requirements met for all known growers, maintaining a pre-quarantine compliance status only requires continued trap servicing.

Join us for an informational meeting:

We will explain the pre-quarantine program, answer questions, discuss the cost of servicing these traps, and sign-up interested growers.

When: Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 3:00 p.m.

Where: Farm Bureau, 1670 East Valley Parkway, Escondido, Calif., 92027

If you cannot attend the meeting, but are interested in the pre-quarantine program, we need to hear from you by May 6, 2011. Please call us at 760-752-4700 to sign-up or ask questions.
