Fall producers’ meeting Dec. 15

Texas AgriLife Extension Service will host a fall producer’s meeting on Dec. 15 in the Activity Building in Claude, according to Kyle Stewart, AgriLife Extension agriculture agent in Armstrong County.

The program is free and offers five continuing education units (three general, one integrated pest management and one laws and regulations.)

Registration will be held from 8-8:45 a.m., followed by time to look at exhibits before the program begins at 9 a.m.

The morning program will include discussion on playa lake management, conservation and use, and brush control around playas by Ken Cearley, AgriLife Extension agronomist in Canyon.

The rest of the morning will feature Dr. Brent Bean, AgriLife Extension agronomist in Amarillo, giving a wheat and sorghum production update. J.F. Cadenhead, AgriLife Extension range specialist in Vernon, will speak on ranch and brush control and management, plus conservation reserve program management.

Lunch will be provided. To reserve a spot, contact the AgriLife Extension office by Dec. 11 at 806-226-3021.

Following lunch, Levon Harman, Texas Department of Agriculture inspector, will discuss pesticide application laws and regulations. Dr. Ron French, AgriLife Extension plant pathologist in Amarillo, will talk about fungicides for disease control and prevention in field crops.
