Irrigation, grain storage and agricultural policies are topics set for discussion at the 41st annual Delta Ag Expo Jan. 23-24 at the Bolivar County Expo Center, Cleveland, Miss.

Seminars and commodity updates will take place throughout the two days.

The first morning begins with irrigation issues at 10 a.m.

The afternoon sessions will address the farm bill and agricultural policies and cotton and soybean updates.

The second morning will begin with a corn and small grains update at 9 a.m., followed by harvest and storage issues and a rice update.

Bolivar County Extension agent Craig Hankins is chairman for the 2014 event, which will be from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., Jan. 23, and from 8:30 a.m. until noon, Jan. 24.

“With 120 exhibitors taking part in this year’s expo, we believe Delta growers will find a lot of helpful ideas before they plant this year’s crops,” Hankins said. “This event provides farmers with the opportunity to talk with Extension and research personnel, and commercial ag-related business representatives, and see the latest changes in technology first-hand, all under one roof.”

Since 1974, the event has been held at the Bolivar County Expo Center and is sponsored by the Mississippi State University Extension Service and the Delta Agricultural Exposition Corp.

In addition to Extension specialists, MSU scientists from the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station will provide research updates.
