The American Lamb Board is stepping up efforts to tell an authentic and compelling story through food influencers.

“There’s nothing like seeing one of our sheep farms and ranches for chefs, bloggers, food media, and nutritionists to really feel why American Lamb is the choice for them,” said Dale Thorne, American Lamb Board chairman. “We’ve fine-tuned our checkoff influencer tours to inform participants about our industry while also inspiring expanded usage of American lamb beyond the traditional holidays.”

This year, American Lamb Board partnered with the Osguthorpe family to host food influencers near their Park City, Utah, ranch.  A group of food bloggers, media, Instagrammers, nutritionists, and freelance writers were hand-selected for a weekend retreat centered around American lamb.

The September weekend kicked off with a ranch tour led by Steve, Brad and Jenny Osguthorpe. Guests learned about the family’s history and how they started raising sheep in Park City. The Osguthorpes introduced attendees to their Peruvian shepherd and toured their sheep camp. Guests also learned about grazing, breeding and the importance of guard dogs as protection against predators. The day rounded out with an ATV tour through the mountains where the sheep graze during the summer.

The influencers are encouraged to share their experience with their followers through their various media platforms, helping educate consumers about the benefits of supporting local lamb. Those attending the Osguthorpe ranch have a combined reach of more than 1 million consumers.
