The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) wants to remind ranchers that the deadline to file a notice for 2008 livestock losses due to severe weather conditions and/or to submit an application for payment for 2008 losses through the Livestock Indemnity Program (LIP) is Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009.

The deadline to file a notice for livestock losses that occurred between Jan. 1, 2009, and July 12, 2009, is also Sept. 13, 2009. The final deadline to submit an application for payment for those losses is Jan. 30, 2010.

If the loss happened after July 13, 2009 but before Dec. 31, 2009, notice of loss must be filed no more than thirty days after death is apparent . The deadline to submit an application for payment for losses that occurred or will occur during that time is also Jan. 30, 2010.

The LIP provides assistance to producers for livestock deaths that result from disasters such as hurricanes, wildfires and extreme heat.

For more information or to file a notice or application, please call the Texas Farm Service Agency (FSA) at (979) 680-5151.
