Farm show’s supreme champion female beef has ‘good looks’

SimAngus/SimSolution calf takes top bull title at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.

AMMC Mamma’s Good Looks, a March yearling MaineTainer shown by Josh Schmidt of Conneautville was named top female of this year’s open beef show at Pennsylvania Farm Show.

The top bull was Just Enough Broker Kaboom, a SimAngus/SimSolution spring heifer calf shown by Jamie Brozman of Bethlehem.

“This was an excellent show with some amazing animals,” says Bob Goble, one of three show judges.

Grand champion bulls and females were named for several breeds:

Maine-Anjou
• Grand Champion Female: CSC Xena, exhibited by Nolan Schmidt of Conneautville.
• Grand Champion Bull: Hurricane Season, exhibited by Bernie Blystone of Cambridge Springs.

MaineTainer
• Grand Champion Female: AMMC Momma’s Good Looks ET, exhibited by Josh Schmidt of Conneautville.
• Grand Champion Bull: AHFF The King 847F ET, exhibited by Annette Delaplaine of Gettysburg.

Shorthorn
• Grand Champion Female: SS Ocean Mirage 714 ET, exhibited by Charlie Marsch of Green Lane.
• Grand Champion Bull: CF Justify X ET, exhibited by Joshua Mummert of Waynesboro.

Angus
• Grand Champion Female: Triple N Rosebud E24, shown by John Allen of Sax.
• Grand Champion Bull: Beaver Creek Scaara 892, shown by Kolton Grim of Thomasville.

Hereford
• Grand Champion Female: DJF Linda 36F ET, shown by Ethan Howe of Wagontown.
• Grand Champion Bull: SSF KKH Miss Keylisha 703 ET, shown by John Allen of Sax.

Limousin
• Grand Champion Female: AHFF Nalanie 751E, exhibited by Austin Miller of Saxonburg.

Simmental
• Grand Champion Female: AHFF Blackbird 610D, shown by Adam Wise of Wise Cattle Co., Punxsutawney.
• Grand Champion Bull: Forge Hollow Farm Allstar, owned by Troy and Lynette Gelsinger of Womelsdorf.

SimAngus/SimSolution
• Grand Champion Female: AER Ellie 809F, shown by Adam Wise of Punxsutawney.
• Grand Champion Bull: Just Enuff Broker Kaboom, shown by Jamie Brozman of Bethlehem.

All Other Breeds
• Grand Champion Female: Sarah Ann’s Dream, exhibited by Curtis Patton of Spraggs.
• Grand Champion Bull: SMC King of the Jungle 1803, exhibited by Sadie Compagnola.

In the junior show, Courtney Dahlquist of Washington, Pa., led her Maine-Anjou heifer, BBR Extraordinary 792E, to supreme champion beef female.

Goble, of Alto, Mich., and Brad Winegardener of Ada, Ohio, selected the supreme champion female. Both judges noted the quality of the animals in the ring and complemented the junior exhibitors for showcasing an impressive lineup of show stock.

The judges concluded that the depth, capacity and ease of movement of the Maine Anjou allowed her to rise to the top.
