IPIC offers Pork Quality Assurance sessions

PORK RESOURCE: The mission of the Iowa Pork Industry Center is to offer information that helps pork producers be more efficient.

The Iowa Pork Industry Center at Iowa State University is offering Pork Quality Assurance (PQA Plus) adviser training sessions. With the introduction later this year of a new version of PQA Plus, IPIC has scheduled several adviser certification sessions from May through early July.

If you are interested in receiving or renewing your certification as an adviser, check the available dates and locations, registration limits and application deadlines.

For all dates, registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the program starting at 9 a.m. There is a 15-person minimum for each session, and the $85 fee is due from applicants upon approval. No walk-in applications are allowed. Complete and submit the application for the desired date in either Word or PDF format at ipic.iastate.edu.

PQA Plus training

If you have questions about any of these training sessions or locations, contact Dessie Schroeder at [email protected]. The April 9 session at Hansen Ag Student Learning Center on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames is filled and no additional applications are being accepted. The available date follow:

May 7. Sioux County Extension office, Orange City. Applications are due April 23 or when the 30-person limit is reached.

May 8. Audubon County Extension office, Audubon. Applications are due April 24 or when 30-person limit is reached.

May 9. Washington County Extension office, Washington. Registration is 8:30 a.m. with a 9 a.m. start time. Applications are due April 25 or when 30-person limit is reached.

June 4. Iowa State Fairgrounds, Des Moines. Registration is 8:30 a.m. with a 9 a.m. start time. Applications are due May 21 or when 30-person limit is reached.

July 2. Hansen Ag Student Learning Center, ISU, Ames. Registration is 8:30 a.m., start time is 9 a.m. Applications are due June 18 or when 40-person limit is reached.

IPIC was established in 1994 as a coordinated effort of the Colleges of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at ISU. IPIC’s mission is to promote efficient pork production technologies in Iowa, maintain Iowa's pork industry leadership and strengthen rural development efforts. IPIC focuses its efforts on programs that are integral and complementary to ISU Extension.
