California is not the largest blueberry producer in the U.S. This designation belongs to Michigan though the Golden State has the highest per-acre yields of blueberries in the nation at over 10,000 pounds.

Blueberries are grown in a variety of locations in California, from the hot San Joaquin Valley to more temperate climates along the Central Coast.

U.S. blueberry production is on the increase as consumption climbs. Per-capita domestic consumption of blueberries grew 50 percent between 2010 and 2015, according to the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council.
