Witt Farms LLC of Monticello, Wis., purchased a new Claas Jaguar 990 with tracks at the end of August. Don and Mike Witt chop more than 4,000 acres of corn for silage for several area dairy farms and for themselves.
AT A GLANCE
Don Witt says he enjoys chopping corn. The cab of his new Claas Jaguar 990 is equipped with a monitor that tells him how many tons to the acre the silage is yielding, what the moisture of the silage is and how many acres he has harvested that day. On Sept. 26, the silage he was chopping was yielding 23 tons to the acre and was 65.3% moisture.
ON THE GO
Don and Mike Witt both chop with Claas Jaguar choppers. The father-and-son team keeps 12 semitrucks busy going back and forth to the fields.
In late August, Witt Farms LLC purchased the first Claas Jaguar 990 chopper with tracks sold in the United States.
