Massey Ferguson has introduced a new Hesston Series Model 2150 large square baler for building 3X3 bales.

The 2150 builds slightly smaller bales than the company's 2170 and 2190 models, but offers the same high capacity and solid bale-building technology as the earlier models. The 2150, however, has been redesigned from the ground up - except for the field-proven single gearbox and chain drive system. The system boasts only two shear bolts in its entire system.

Upgrades include better steel, increased flywheel weight, new slip clutches with five discs instead of four, sealed bearings replace most bushings, and tapered roller bearings replace roller ball bearings for reduced wear. The machine also features an auto-lube system instead of a hand-pump to keep the knotters lubricated - a feature which can be controlled from the tractor cab.

The 2150 picks up hay with a four-bar pickup, and a torsion bar flotation system eliminates crop catching and trash-collecting springs. Also, a new design hydraulic blower uses a transverse impeller fan to keep the knotter area clean and trouble-free.

The new model baler comes with an on-board hydraulic system to simplify hook-up and eliminate pressure variables from the tractor's hydraulic system.
