Efficiency on the farm has become a strategic consideration for today’s farmer with optimizing every step of crop and livestock production vital for staying in business. With this in mind, the Optimization Clinics will be a key part of the SC AgriBiz & Farm Expo set for Jan. 11-12 at the Florence Civic Center in Florence, S.C.

The Optimization Clinics will be held at 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. each day. Participating exhibitors, denoted with yellow “Optimization Clinic” balloons, will repeat their session at the half hour so growers can rotate to other clinics.

Schedule for the clinics:

In the data clinic, farmers will learn how data can be used in determining best varieties and population rates among other topics. Demonstrations on how all the information that current monitors collect will be highlighted. In the irrigation clinic, the importance of using soil moisture probes to monitor soil moisture in irrigation decisions will be highlighted among other topics.

In addition, on Wednesday, Southern Crop Solutions will hold a clinic on “Importance of Testing and Turning Plant Meters Annually” at its outside booth. Farmers will learn how plant meters are tested and turned to increase performance and accuracy before they get to the field among other topics.

Carolina Irrigation Solutions will hold a clinic on “Integrating Remote Monitoring and Soil Moisture on Your Farm with Carolina Irrigation Solutions” at its indoor booth both days of the Expo. Farmers will learn how integrating new center-pivot technology with Agsense and soil moisture monitoring will improve decision-making knowledge for increased yields.

“All of these optimization clinics are designed to help farmers become more efficient,” said Jody Martin, executive director of the Expo. “There are lots of classroom sessions to help growers improve efficiency on the farm. And don’t forget all the great opportunities to connect at the Taste of South Carolina, the Commissioners’ Breakfast, Food Truck Rodeo, Small Farmers Symposium and much more.”
