Equipment companies proved they can do more than design and build huge machines with the products unveiled at recent farm shows. From a combine for midsize farms to one for research, companies introduced products that fit a wide variety of operations.

Here is a closer look at some of the offerings in this lineup. Browse the entire slideshow of combines and heads, plus head-related accessories. Some highlights include:

Midsize combine. Case IH developed the IH 160 Series Axial Flow combine for the midsize or smaller farm. While it may not fit in a large operation, Case is gearing the combine to farmers with considerable acreage who thought they were priced out and sized out of the new combine market.

More than a folding corn head. Geringhoff introduces a folding corn head that features what the company calls Adaptive-Flex Technology, or AFT. It’s turning heads in the field when people watch it run.

Research combines. Wintersteiger proves it belongs in the combine conversation by introducing three research-oriented combines: Quantum Core, a basic research combine; Quantum Pro, a higher-tech machine; and Split NH, converts from a conventional to a research combine.
