One of the South’s largest indoor trade shows, featuring interactive exhibits from across the nation, is set for Feb. 25-26 at the Memphis Cook Convention Center.

“Every year is very different and our show has become a leading forum, a sort of agricultural bellwether, for the state of the industry beginning a new crop year,” says Tim Price, show manager, and executive vice president of the Southern Cotton Ginners Association, which sponsors the show. Delta Farm Press is co-sponsor.

“After the rollercoaster ride of 2009, there is an unusually early interest in how these sectors will all come together and the timing, history and scope of our event will be looked upon with even more anticipation,” he says.

“We’re at a juncture now of learning how to operate — how to survive — in this new environment, which has become the new ‘normal.’”

For nearly 60 years, the Mid-South Farm and Gin Show has been a mainstay in the Mid-South, Price notes. The event has grown to the point it now features exhibitors from 46 states and several foreign countries, and attracts thousands from a multi-state region for a first-look at innovative technology and the latest information on the challenging issues in the agricultural industry.

More than 20,000 domestic and international decision-makers are expected to attend the event, which includes over 400 interactive exhibits.

“Those attending will see the familiar and the cutting edge — new technologies in seed and crop inputs, new equipment and updated machinery, all designed to make farming easier and potentially more profitable,” Price says.

Educational Ag Update seminars will be held Friday and Saturday. Speakers and topics will include grain and cotton outlooks, and comments from several industry officials. Special topic seminars are also being planned for Saturday afternoon.

Exhibit hours are Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For additional information, contact Price at (901) 947-3104 or visit the Web site: Mid-South Farm and Gin Show.
