South Dakota is now going to recognize sesquicentennial farms (150 years) in addition to quasquicentennial farms. (125 years) and century farms (100 years.) at the Century Farm celebration at the South Dakota State Fair in Huron Aug. 31.
"We are pleased to add another opportunity to recognize more family farms and ranches in South Dakota," says Krystil Smit, South Dakota Farm Bureau executive director. "We are especially thrilled to be offering this during our centennial year celebration."
South Dakota Farm Bureau has partnered with the South Dakota Department of Agriculture since 1984 to recognize century farms, as well as recognizing those that have been in the same family for 125 years as quasquicentennial farms.
