Usually, fall field days are held in person at Iowa State University research farms around the state. This year due to coronavirus concerns, ISU Extension and the College of Ag and Life Sciences hosted a virtual field day series. You can view and listen to the presentations now available online.
This five-stop series features a greeting by Dan Robison, CALS dean, and an administrative update on the ISU farms, and four consecutive presentations on water quality research, fungicide trials, a long-term tillage trial, and phosphorous and potassium placement trials for crop production.
The presentations have been recorded and are on the ISU Crops Team YouTube channel. Each webinar includes a short discussion on the key topic followed by time for questions and answers. This virtual format allowed ISU Extension to deliver information usually shared in person at the research farm field days to people throughout Iowa and other states during the COVID-19 crisis.
The five-stop tour follows:
Field Day Stop 1. ISU research farm update from CALS Dean Dan Robison and f Iowa State Research Farms Director Mark Honeyman
Field Day Stop 2. Water quality monitoring and research update from Matt Helmers
Field Day Stop 3. Cardinal fungicide trial update from Alison Robertson
Field Day Stop 4. Overview of long-term tillage and crop rotation studies from Mahdi Al-Kaisi and Angie Rieck-Hinz
Field Day Stop 5. Phosphorus and potassium placement and tillage studies update from Antonio Mallarino
