Wisconsin Farm Technology Days Inc. has presented three scholarships to Walworth County youth who were involved as volunteers at the recent Wisconsin Farm Technology Days held at Snudden Farms in Walworth County.

Devon Frederick, currently a senior at Badger High School, Lake Geneva, received a $2,000 scholarship to attend the University of Wisconsin - Platteville, where he is planning to major in biochemistry or mechanical engineering. An active volunteer at the recent Wisconsin Farm Technology Days, Frederick worked in the Youth Village during several days of the event.  Also, as the Walworth County 4-H Junior Leader’s Association president, he was asked to lead the pledge of allegiance at the opening ceremony for the Wisconsin Farm Technology Days Show.

Frederick is a nine-year member of 4-H and has been extremely active in the program. In addition to serving as treasurer and president of the  Walworth County 4-H Junior Leader Association, he as served as a camp counselor and has been chosen to attend Wisconsin 4-H State Conference,  Space Camp, Citizenship Washington Focus and  the National 4-H Conference.  He has been a part of the Badger High School football and track teams where he was designated as an “academic athlete” for three years.  He has been a member of the National Honor Society for all of the semesters he has completed in high school.

Katlyn Decker , Sharon, has been selected as a recipient of a $1,000 scholarship which she will use to attend the UW- Madison or UW-River Falls. Katlyn volunteered to be part of the recent Wisconsin Farm Technology Days event, working in the 4-H food tent on all three days of the show.

Katyln has been very active at Big Foot High School where she is currently a senior.  She has been involved in track, Book Club, Earth Day Club, and has served on the student council.  She has been an active 4-H club member, serving as flag bearer and secretary of her local 4-H Club.

Casey Burmeister , who graduated this past spring from Badger High School, will receive a $500 scholarship to the attend George Williams College or Aurora University where he plans to major in environmental science sustainability. Burmeister worked in the FFA Education booth at the recent Wisconsin Farm Technology Days Show where he talked to show attendees about agricultural sustainability.

Burmeister has been very active in the Badger High School FFA Chapter, receiving the FFA Green Hand, Chapter and State FFA degrees. He was selected as the Outstanding Sophomore and Junior by his FFA chapter. In addition to his FFA involvement, he has been involved in Boy Scouts where is received the Eagle Scout degree in 2013.
