The new 2017 Can-Am Defender HD5 side-by-side offers a midsize engine that has plenty of power for both work and play around the farm.
Because it takes more than one bucket to feed the calves, the Can-Am Defender HD5 offers three cutouts to keep the 5-gallon buckets from moving in the cargo box.
There’s no need to unlatch from two sides: The middle-mounted tailgate latch makes lowering the tailgate simple. Once open, it can hold 250 pounds.
This side-by-side has multiple options for hauling either riders or equipment with the 40/20/40 split seat. It folds up to allow access to storage.
The cargo box has a 600-pound load capacity and dump-assist levers on both sides. The box also allows for 1-by-3-inch and plywood separators.
EASY ENGINE ACCESS
While the Defender HD5 does not require maintenance for a year, the engine can be easily accessed in the rear of the UTV by lifting the cargo box.
A glove box filled with animal health products can be easily unsnapped and brought into the barn or feedlot. The box is water-resistant to keep the contents dry.
The new Can-Am Defender has four in-cab cup holders — two on the dash and two in the central armrest.
Whether in two- or four-wheel drive, the auto-locking front differentials provide great traction. The vehicle's 83-inch-long wheelbase offers great handling for the field or trail riding.
ACCESS TO ACCESSORIES
Need to pack a few more hay bales or pieces of wood? The bed-wall extenders are an option that gives this smaller UTV big-time carrying capacity.
BIG THINGS, SMALL PACKAGE
The 38-hp HD5 Rotax single-cylinder, four-stroke engine delivers on performance. With all of its features, this model offers a good bang for the buck. For more on the Can-Am Defender HD5, visit can-am.brp.com.
