Case IH will put 18 new tractors in the field in 2014 and all feature new Tier 4B/Final emissions standards and a few set new benchmarks for power and efficiency.

Case IH spokesmen at a recent product rollout in Denver said the new emission standard is achieved with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology, an industry exclusive.

“We’ve been able to meet the standard while still developing class-leading horsepower and efficiency in multiple equipment lines,” said Case IH Senior Director of Marketing Kyle Russell.

“Tier 4B was a natural progression for Case IH,” said Jim Walker Vice President, North America.  The SCR technology, Walker said, provides the necessary emissions standards and also allows for efficient power.

SCR technology is “separate from the engine so operators can still tune the engine for maximum horsepower.”

That power push includes the new Steiger lineup and “the highest horsepower agricultural tractor available in the market today—the Steiger 620,” said Mitch Kaiser, Case IH Steiger Tractor marketing manager.  The 620 has potential for 682 maximum engine horsepower.

“The Steiger 620 is designed to easily handle the industry’s largest tillage tools, and do it with less fuel,” says Kaiser.

The new Steiger lineup includes seven models—in either wheeled or track versions. The Steiger line includes: Steiger 370 HD and 420 HD, available in Wheeled or Rowtrac configurations; Steiger 470 HD and 500 HD, in Wheeled or Rowtrac/Quadtrac versions; Steiger 540 HD, 580 HD and 620 HD, all available in Wheeled or Quadtrac models.

The new Steiger tractors feature more torque, improved lugging power and more responsive performance. Improved in-cab design also make the Steiger line more comfortable to operate and easier to manage field operations.

New Magnum tractors also come with a power surge, featuring as much as 14 percent power growth and an additional 35 engine horsepower with available Power Boost. “The Magnum line delivers the highest horsepower in its class, and the most efficient power ever,” says Dan Klein, Case IH marketing manager for Magnum Tractors.

A Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) option maximizes available power. “Magnum tractors deliver superior power and fuel efficiency in the toughest conditions through simple, smart design,” Klein said.

The Magnum line includes nine new models, all available with the CVT option. New Magnum tractors are: the 180, 200, and 220, all available with either standard powershift or  CVT; a 240 available with  the CVT as the standard; 250, 280, 310 and 340, available with Standard powershift and the CVT now optional for the first time; and a 380 also with CVT as the new standard powershift.

Ergonomic considerations include a Multi-Control armrest with MultiFunction handle that puts essential controls at the operator’s fingertips. A ventilated seat and Bluetooth capability are also included.

Six new Case IH tractors ranging from 150 to 240 horsepower make up the new Puma line, all available with CVT or Powershift transmissions.

Achieving Tier 4B/final emissions standards is a significant achievement, Walker said. He said the Case IH vision to develop the SCR function from the start made the transition easier and with less disruption to the manufacturing process.

Walker said Case IH business has grown steadily over the last several years and sales have tripled since 2006. “We have increased market share,” he said.
