OUTREACH: The Healthy Farming, Healthy You program helps students and their parents discover how much Michigan dairy farmers have in common with the families who seek fresh dairy foods.

In cooperation with the curriculum specialists at Young Minds Inspired, the United Dairy Industry of Michigan created a free educational program called Healthy Farming, Healthy You.

The program helps students and their parents discover how much Michigan dairy farmers have in common with the families who depend on them for fresh, wholesome dairy foods.

The lessons introduce students in grades 2 through 4 to the wide range of skills required on a dairy farm, showing them how dairy farmers protect the environment, and reminding them milk and other dairy foods are essential for a balanced diet every day.

Part of the program takes students on a virtual field trip to Michigan dairy farms, letting them hear directly from farmers and industry experts, including a veterinarian and a dairy nutritionist, about the care that goes into each glass of milk made on Michigan dairy farms.

Michigan dairy farmers are encouraged to share the link with elementary teachers in their area and encourage them to incorporate into their lessons this school year.
