Dairy Family of the Year

Bob and Marcella Seiler, who operate a 130-cow dairy near Valley Center are this year’s Kansas Distinguished Dairy Family.

The award, sponsored by Kansas State University and Kansas Farmer, recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of a Kansas family annually. The Seilers are a second-generation recipient with Bob’s dad being honored in 1990.

The Seilers have three children. Anthony is a junior at the University of Dallas, majoring in liberal arts; Maggie is a senior at Bishop Carroll High School, planning to attending Kansas State University, majoring in dairy science and ag communications and daughter, Jill, is a high school freshman who has decided on a career.

The Seilers will be presented with the traveling milk can Distinguished Dairy trophy at a luncheon in Seneca on Feb. 19.
