Funk Seed is a new company founded by Bill Funk, who says his business model will help growers know more about the varieties they are buying, and to also pre-select their seed before it’s even produced. Funk says the model will help growers maximize profits and avoid confusion about what they are planting.

We published a corn seed guide in September to help growers break down the choices available today.

Funk said growers will be able to track their seed from the time it’s planted through harvest. After harvest, seed will be tested for genetic purity, vigor, trait purity, germination, seed protectant loading rate and more, which will give growers information about the quality of seed they’ve purchased.

Fun Seed will also offer Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield through Innotech soybeans. Seed will be available to growers in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois.
