Dry conditions, early spring temperatures greeted the hundreds of Delta Council members and guests who attended the organization’s 83rd annual meeting in Cleveland, Miss.

It's not often the Delta Council holds its annual meeting in June. This year's event was held later to accommodate the schedule of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue, who became the first ag secretary to address the annual meeting since Mike Espy in the 1990s.

Any concerns about the weather being too warm because the meeting was held in early June instead of early May vanished because of the cooler than normal temperatures on June 9. The weather -- and the agriculture secretary -- brought out one of the best crowds to attend the meeting in years.
