The Cotton Museum in downtown Memphis, Tenn., will launch a new Front Street mp3 walking tour Saturday, June 6, made possible through the History Channel’s Save Our History Grant, with a day of guided walking tours and presentations by local history experts.
Tickets are $6 for adults; $5.50 for seniors; $5 for students; $4 for children 6-12 and free for children under 6. Ticket prices include discount coupons for lunch at Front Street Deli and Orleans on Front, so plan to spend the day. No two-for-one coupons, please.
Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Experts on cotton and its history will also be on hand at the museum all day. Special presentations begin at 10 a.m., with Civil War: the Battle of Memphis, with Jimmy Ogle, renowned expert on downtown Memphis. There will also be a guided walking tour of Cotton Row, a presentation on the architecture of Cotton Row and others.
