Monterey will once-again be home to the annual meeting of the California Cotton Ginners and Growers Association.

The California Cotton Ginners and Growers Association (CCGGA) will hold a free training session on irrigation and nitrogen management in conjunction with its annual meeting in February.

The annual meeting takes place Feb. 21-23 at the Monterey Plaza Hotel in Monterey, Calif.

Growers of all commodities are encouraged to attend the free training workshop, which is designed to help growers self-certify for their required irrigation and nitrogen management plans. Nitrogen management plans are sent to third-party coalitions and ultimately the Regional Water Quality Control Board. Plans must either be certified by a licensed CCA or by growers who have achieved certification through a grower self-certification course.

The half-day training begins at 8 a.m. Feb. 22 in the Carmel Room. Registration is requested for the event so that a head-count and ample information is provided to those attending. Those attending the workshop should contact the association office at (559) 252-0684 or email Shana Colby at [email protected].

Growers are encouraged to also attend the annual CCGGA meeting, which will include a golf tournament, reception and dinner, and a half-day meeting to include updates from the National Cotton Council, Supima, Cotton Inc., a water outlook for 2018, and regulatory updates.

Those interested in attending the annual meeting can sign up on the organization’s website. Room rates with the Monterey Plaza Hotel have been negotiated at $209 per night and can be reserved by calling the hotel directly at (800) 334-3999. Deadline to register for the hotel is Feb. 1. Deadline to register for the annual meeting is Feb. 9.
