Field crops

Cotton squaring has occurred on 70 percent of the acreage, ahead of the five-year average of 52 percent. Cotton boll setting has occurred mostly in the Yuma area. The overall cotton crop condition varies from fair to excellent.

Alfalfa conditions are mostly fair to excellent depending on the location. The alfalfa harvest is active on almost two-thirds of the growing areas across the state.

The durum wheat harvest is approximately three-quarters complete.

Vegetable, fruit, and specialty crops

Arizona growers shipped cantaloupe, honeydew, mixed and miscellaneous melons, watermelon, onions, and potatoes.

Weather summary

Temperatures continued mostly above normal across the state for the week ending June 24, ranging from 1 degree below normal at Paloma to 8 degrees above normal at Prescott and St. Johns.

The highest temperature of the week was 115 degrees at Yuma. The lowest reading was 33 degrees at the Grand Canyon.

No precipitation was recorded at the 21 weather stations in the state. No precipitation has fallen in Arizona since the second week of May.

All weather stations are below 75 percent of normal precipitation for the year.
