Field crops

Cotton conditions in Arizona remain fair to excellent. Harvesting is 63 percent complete, behind last year at 78 percent, and behind the five-year average of 75 percent.

Most alfalfa is in fair to good condition. Harvesting is active on almost two-thirds of the state’s acreage.

Vegetables, fruit, and specialty crops

Central Arizona growers shipped bok choy cantaloupes, Chinese cabbage, cilantro, honeydews, kale greens, lemons, parsley, and spinach this week.

Western Arizona growers shipped arugula, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, cantaloupes, cauliflower, celery, Chinese cabbage, cilantro, endive, escarole, honeydews, kale greens, lemons, Boston, green leaf, iceberg, red leaf, and romaine lettuce, parsley, radicchio and spinach.

Weather summary

Temperatures were below average across Arizona, ranging from 10 degrees below normal at Aguila, Kingman, and Parker to 1 degree below normal at Prescott.

The highest temperature was 74 degrees at Coolidge and Marana. The lowest reading at 5 degrees occurred at Grand Canyon and Flagstaff.

Precipitation was recorded in 8 of the 22 stations this week. Winslow received the least at .01 inches of precipitation. Flagstaff received the most at .80 inches.
