Mid-South cotton farmers got a good look at how cotton farming is done in Texas during the National Cotton Council's 2015 Producer's Information Exchange program, better known as the P.I.E. tour. The annual tour, sponsored by Bayer CropScience, kicked off the last week of July in Lubbock and concluded on the Texas Gulf Coast.

Scott Kohne, Bayer CropScience Head of Market Acceptance for the North America Region, says the program is designed to bring key stakeholders together to share information designed to streamline the art and science of growing and marketing cotton in an increasingly competitive global market.

Farmers from Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Tennessee expressed admiration for how Texas farmers conserve water.

P.I.E. tour stops included farms, cotton gins, a mattress manufacturer who prefers cotton as a superior product, and the Gulf Coast Compress.
