Syngenta introduces Agrisure Artesian hybrids for drought conditions

November 2, 2010

Growers primarily in the western cornbelt will be able to purchase Syngenta's Agrisure Artesian hybrids in 2011. The new hybrids are considered a water optimization line, meaning the hybrids include native traits to help the plants optimize water.

Grant Ozipko, Syngenta brand marketing manager, says the new hybrids should provide a 15% yield benefit over hybrids without the traits in a drought situation.

Researchers developing the Agrisure Artesian hybrids selected traits that:

1) Developed a robust root system under stress

2) Maintained plant and leaf size under stress

3) Maintained cell function

4) Helped plants use essential plan proteins

5) Delayed the plant's shut-down response when under stress
