The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) forecasts that China's corn crop will be down 9.7% from last year due to drought in some production areas. It also reports that corn imports from the U.S. were unlikely in the near term as government stocks of corn were sufficient to meet the country's needs.
USGC pegged China's 2009 corn crop at 148.79 million metric tons.
