I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love a farmers market. When I was growing up in West Lafayette, Ind., my mom took me to the downtown Lafayette market, where vendors opened car trunks and pickup truck beds so their tantalizing, fresh-baked goods and glorious floral bouquets would lure in early morning risers.
Such markets today still draw folks weekly to sample the delectable, fresh offerings and take them home. Why not visit the farmers market-themed restaurant at Indianapolis International Airport?
I’m confident one of the reasons the airport was named Best Airport in North America by Airports Council International for 11 years in a row includes its ingenuity in hosting the Farmers Market Featuring Indiana Grown in Concourse B. The eatery features dishes such as the Hoosier Egg Bowl, Farmers Breakfast Plate, seasoned soups, Indiana Farms pizza and a pulled pork sandwich. Indiana-based wines, craft beers and Triple XXX root beer are also offered.
I’m not paid to promote the airport or Indiana Grown. I am writing about them because I love promoting Indiana and Indianapolis, and our state’s bountiful agriculture. Our family touts our state’s offerings every chance we get. I encourage you to do the same. How cool is it to have travelers from all over the world buying foods and products from some of Indiana Grown’s 1,800 members?
Instead of grabbing HotBox pizza or McDonald’s, make time before your next flight out of Indy to sample our state’s wares, grown by your neighbors and colleagues. Then, share how wonderful it is with everyone you know.
