If college football games aren’t your thing, here’s an alternative for an early fall Saturday afternoon. Yes, it’s not fall yet, but mark your calendar now — each day is shorter than the one before!
The Indiana Barn Foundation will convene its annual barn tour on Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT in Daviess County, Ind.
This tour features the Singleton Round Barn, which sits along Indiana Highway 57 and bears the moniker “Thos. C. Singleton. 1908” above the main door. Kent Yeager, Harrison County, Ind., says it’s likely the most famous barn in Indiana — round, rectangular or any other shape.
“Many people see it because of its location, and we’re proud to showcase it this year,” says Yeager, president of the Indiana Barn Foundation.
John Hanou, author of “A Round Indiana,” a book about round barns, is scheduled to be at the tour. He will also attend a gathering of barn enthusiasts the night before for those who want to learn in depth about his adventures with barns.
The Indiana Barn Foundation annual tour features information about restoring and repairing aging barns, but it’s also a social event. At least three food trucks are expected to be on the grounds during the day. For more information about the tour and how you can participate, visit the Indiana Barn Foundation website.
