Pickup trucks are big business. Fiat-Chrysler even dropped some cars - the Chrysler 200 and the Dodge Dart - to spend more time making pickups and sport utility vehicles. And it's no wonder that auto companies push on their pickups, they have big margins and people keep buying them. The granddaddy of them all, and the most-sold vehicle of any type in the market is the Ford F-150.
Three years ago this big rig got a significant upgrade including an all-aluminum body that peeled off nearly 1,000 pounds in the interest of economy. Since pickup designs usually remain the same for several years, that investment looked good. But during the North American International Auto Show this week, Ford did one better and shared the new 2018 F-150.
Farmers like this size truck for light-duty work, and as a go-to-town vehicle. Well it looks like Ford really wants you to go to town in this baby. In addition, updates and changes in this class often trickle down in new ways to the Super Duty class of Ford machines. We'll have to watch.
For now, peruse this gallery with images of the new truck and all the information we could get from the Ford press kit. There's a lot to talk about, so click your way through to know more. And be ready to check it out this fall at your local Ford dealer.
