The California sunshine made an appearance just in time to welcome popular Chinese movie star and almond ambassador Gao Yuan Yuan. Ms. Gao became acquainted with the California almond industry for the first time in late February, touring almond orchards and handling facilities as part of a media campaign with two Chinese television shows.

The television shows will air on national Chinese channels, reaching out to consumers around the country. Episodes will include the origin of California almonds, along with Ms. Gao’s impressions of her visit.
“As the ambassador of almonds for about two years, I have been looking forward for a while now to getting much closer to almonds and learning more about them,” said Ms. Gao. “Coming to California has shown me how all-natural almonds can help me maintain overall nutrition and well-being.”

Daily updates on her travel in California and photos of her enjoying almonds at every stop are also posted on the Almond Board’s Chinese language website for consumers to learn more about almonds. “Thanks to this trip, I now understand much more about California Almonds, and I have been thoroughly impressed,” Ms. Gao continued. “The California almond industry uses first-rate facilities and specialized technical know-how to ensure the highest possible quality of almond products.”
