The 2014 Tennessee Grain and Soybean Producers Conference will be held Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Dyer County Fairgrounds on James Rice Road. Registration opens at 7:45 a.m. Central time.
Breakout sessions begin at 9 a.m. for this University of Tennessee Extension event and include presentations on precision agriculture and seed treatments as well as sprayer demonstrations. At 10 a.m. a panel of local farmers and UT Institute of Agriculture researchers will discuss cover crops.
All visitors will reconvene at 11 a.m. for a report on the newly implemented Commodities for Communities program, followed by a special presentation on trailer safety.
A complimentary lunch will be served at noon, and will be immediately followed by the conference’s keynote speaker, Dr. Daryll Ray, Blasingame Chair of Excellence in Agricultural Policy from UTIA. Ray will share information on commodity policy, development of analytical models for policy analysis, and deepening the understanding of the structure and nature of the agricultural sector of our economy.
Producers, commercial applicators and certified crop advisors can obtain certification points at the conference.
