Amber Hanson has been promoted to be the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation’s next public policy director.

In her new job, which started June 13, Hanson will focus on national policy issues.

She replaces Doug Busselman who recently left the position to take the job of executive vice president with Nevada Farm Bureau.

“I am excited for the opportunity to continue my work with Minnesota Farm Bureau members and look forward to expanding the policy work we do as a grassroots organization,” said Hanson. “I am very honored to work with and represent Minnesota farmers.”

Most recently Hanson worked as the MFBF public policy associate director. Prior to that, Hanson worked for AgriBank where she was the government affairs specialist.

She has Bachelor of Arts degrees in political science and communications from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter and is working on her Master’s degree in public policy and administration from Northwestern.

She was raised on a corn and soybean farm in Mower County. Hanson also was a member of Class VIII of the Minnesota Agriculture and Rural Leadership program.

A search will begin for a MFBF public policy associate director position to focus on state issues.
