Miller is a third-generation Angus breeder who grew up on his family farm near Gridley. Thirty years ago, his parents, Orlan and Carol Miller, revitalized the Angus herd as a junior project, naming the operation Prairie View Farms (PVF).
PVF is now a family operation managed by Miller and his wife, Theresa, and his brother-in-law and sister, Brandon and Cathy Jones. The Millers have three children: Amelia, Adam and William. All are active in the National Junior Angus Association. Adam won grand champion Land of Lincoln steer with his Angus steer at the 2016 Illinois State Fair.
The board also selected a new slate of officers. Charlie Boyd, May’s Lick, Ky., was elected as president and chairman of the board. He succeeds Jim Sitz, Dillon, Mont. Boyd and his wife, Paula, with sons Blake and Logan, operate Boyd Beef Cattle.
Kevin Yon, Ridge Spring, S.C., was elected by delegates to serve as vice president and vice chairman of the board. First-generation Angus breeders, Yon and his wife, Lydia, established Yon Family Farms in 1996. They have three children: Sally, Drake and Corbin.
John Pfeiffer Jr., Mulhall, Okla., will serve as 2016-17 treasurer. He and his wife, Gaye, manage a diversified farming operation, where Angus cattle have grazed for more than 100 years. They have two sons, John Christopher and Andy.
More than 2,000 Angus breeders attended the three-day event that included seminars, trade shows and entertainment.
