USA Rice Federation today released the September issue of The Rice Advisor, a monthly research report on trends for products using rice as an ingredient.  This issue provides an overview of rice starch usage in consumer products.

Strong growth in the use of rice starch over the past decade makes it an "ingredient to watch". According to the Mintel Global New Products Database (GNPD), there are 808 products in North America containing rice starch and its usage has grown dramatically since 2001 — increasing from 27 new products to 129 in 2010.  Rice starch has broad applications across multiple product categories such as baby food, frozen meals, candy, ice cream, pet food, and snacks.
