Fertilizing rice for maximum grain yield is not something for the faint of heart. Apply too little nitrogen, for example, and you reduce yields; apply too much and you can increase lodging or disease pressure in the rice. The LSU AgCenter’s Dustin Harrell talked about rice fertility and the 4R nutrient stewardship concept at the Rice Research Station Field Day in Crowley.
