John Deere has announced a collaboration with Dawn Equipment Company, the manufacturer specializing in planter control systems and ground engaging tools. Through the agreement, John Deere will sell Dawn’s hydraulic-controlled down-force systems, closing wheels and row cleaners for planters.

Aaron Wetzel, John Deere’s VP of the global crop care platform said in a release, “Utilizing Dawn technology, producers will be able to have an automated, closed-loop control for planter hydraulic down-force, displayed on an HD map from an iPad™ in the tractor cab.”

And Dawn’s M Series closing wheels will also be available for purchase through John Deere.

The companies will focus on retrofitting John Deere 1770, 1770NT and DB planters with Dawn planter control systems. And the new MaxEmerge 5 and ExactEmerge 1775 and 1775NT planters will also be compatible with Dawn’s technology.
